What a cookie is
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep, and hands back to the site on your next page. It is how a website remembers anything at all between one click and the next.
This site uses very few of them, and we can list every one.
Cookies we set whatever you choose
These two are how the site works. Without them it cannot do the one thing it is for.
`rah_list` — your materials list
Holds the items and quantities you have added to your list, and nothing else. It holds no name, no price and no contact details; the prices you see are read back from our catalogue every time the page loads, so a price cannot go stale in your list.
It is set to be readable only by our server, never by scripts in your browser. It lasts 30 days, or until you clear the list.
`rah_consent` — your answer to the cookie banner
Holds one word — whether you allowed analytics or not — and the version of the banner you answered. Lasts 12 months, after which we ask again.
If the cookies this site sets ever change, that version changes too and the banner asks again, because agreeing to one set of cookies is not agreeing to a different set.
Cookies set only if you allow them
Google Analytics — `_ga` and `_ga_<id>`
If you choose "Allow analytics", we load Google Analytics 4. It tells us which pages people actually use, how they got here, and where they give up — which is what tells us what to fix.
It sets two cookies that last up to two years. We have IP anonymisation switched on. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, we do not run remarketing, and we do not try to identify you from it.
If you choose "Essential only", none of this loads at all — the script is never fetched and no analytics cookie is set. We do not load it and then ask it to behave.
A cookie you may see on the quote form
The quote request page runs a Cloudflare check that tells a person from a robot, so the form cannot be used to send junk. Cloudflare may set a short-lived cookie of its own to do that. It is a security measure, it is only on that page, and the site cannot accept a quote request without it.
Changing your mind
Use the control at the foot of this page. Your choice takes effect immediately.
You can also clear cookies for this site in your browser, which resets the banner. Every browser has this in its settings, usually under "Privacy". Blocking all cookies will stop your materials list working — that is not us being awkward, it is that the list is a cookie.
What we do not do
We do not use advertising cookies. We do not use tracking pixels. There is no Facebook pixel, no LinkedIn Insight tag and no advertising network on this site. Nothing here follows you to another website.
Changes to this policy
If we add a cookie, this page changes and the banner asks you again. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
